Frame | TV
During the design of an art TV, I had a sudden idea: what if the wooden frame could also serve as the TV stand? Could this integration create a simpler, more cohesive design?
Building on this idea, I explored the Frame concept TV, featuring a wooden structure inspired by square brackets that seamlessly integrates form and function. When wall-mounted, the partial wooden frame creates the impression of an artwork framed on the wall. When placed on a tabletop, simply rotating the frame transforms it into a stable TV stand. By combining solid wood with an internal stainless-steel support structure, I achieved a cohesive balance between material expression, structural stability, and visual design.
For the glass back panel, I drew inspiration from BOE’s Rising Sun concept and used Grasshopper, a parametric design tool, to generate a prototype featuring a randomized texture pattern. I then combined etching and polishing techniques to create subtle textural variations and striking contrasts between light and shadow. The interplay of glossy and matte finishes enhanced the product’s artistic character and brought greater depth and sophistication to its material expression.
